Dmitri Simkin

Weisbaden Ballet

Dmitri Smkin was born in Perm, USSR and studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School. His first professional engagement was with the Novosibirsk State Theatre as a Principal Dancer. He later toured with the Bolshoi Ballet in Japan, France, Austria, Belgium, Portugal and Israel, and performed in many ballet galas.

Dmitri Simkin was the first prize at the National Ballet Competition and, in 1988, the first prize at the prestigious Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. In 1990 he moved to Germany where he became Principal in the Deutsch Oper in Düsseldorf. He has been a guest at the Berlin Staatsoper and the Wiesbaden StaatTheater where in 1993 he became Principal Dancer.
