Rex Harrington

National Ballet of Canada

A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Rex Harrington grew up in Toronto. At the age of fourteen, he began his dance studies in Vancouver and later went on to Toronto to study at the National Ballet School. He joined the National Ballet in 1983, becoming Second Soloist in 1985, First Solist in 1987, and Principal Dancer in 1988. Mr. Harrington's powerful stage presence, combined with his tecnical skill and compelling sense of drama quickly won him leading roles. In 1985 he joined the Italy tour of 'Stars and Soloists of Canadian Ballet'. In demand as a guest artist, Mr. Harrington has made numerous guest appearances, including several engagements with Evelyn Hart and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Le Dons des Étoiles Gala in Montreal and 'Dancers for Life AIDS' in Toronto. He is also featured in Norman Jewison's film, The January Man.
