Nadezhda Grachova
Bolshoi Ballet
Nadezhda Alexandrovna Grachova's remarkable career started
at the Choreographic Institute of Alma Ata in Kazakstan in 1978,
when she was nine. At the age of sixteen, she received a silver
medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition. Two years
later she received a gold medal at the National Competitions
in Moscow. In 1988 she joined the Bolshoi Ballet and the same
year earned another silver medal at Varna. The Benois Prize for
perfrmamce in La Bayadere and Swan Lake followed in 1991. In
1995 she received a gold medal at the Osaka International Ballet
Competition.
At 28, Miss Grachova already holds the highly regarded titles
of Honoured Artist of Russia, People's Artist of Russia and laureate
dancer of Russian Federation for her performance in Spartacus,
Legend of Love, Giselle, and La Bayadere.
