Maxim Belotserkovsky

American Ballet Theatre

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Maxim Belotserkovsky trained at the School of Dance in Kiev. From 1990 to 1991, he was a Principal Dancer with the National Opera of Bulgaria. From 1991 to 1994, he was a leading Soloist with the National Opera of the Ukraine, and while with this company was awarded the title of "etoile" in 1992. With the National Opera of the Ukraine, Mr. Belotserkovsky toured Japan, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Romania, India and Egypt. In 1993, he was honored by the President of the Ukraine for outstanding artistic achievement.

Before joining American Ballet Theatre in 1994, Mr. Belotserkovsky's repertoire included the Prince in Cinderella, Albrecht and the peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Farhad in The Legend of Love, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Prince Desire and the Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, Prince Siegfried, the pas de trois and Neapolitan Dance in Swan Lake, the pas d'action from La Bayadère, the pas de deux from Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, and La Sylphide and Alexander in Swan Lake (with the Hamburg Ballet).

Mr. Belotserkovsky was promoted to Soloist with American Ballet Theatre in May 1995, and to Principal Dancer in August 2000. His roles with the Company include the Prince and the Dancing Master in Cinderella, Franz in Coppélia, Conrad and Lankendem in Le Corsaire, Basilio and Espada in Don Quixote, the peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Her Lover in Jardin aux Lilas, Camille and Kromov in The Merry Widow, Arthur Saint Léon in Pas des Déesses, Prince Desire, the Bluebird and Gold in The Sleeping Beauty, Misgir and the pas de six in The Snow Maiden, Prince Siegfried and von Rothbart, Act III, in Swan Lake, James in La Sylphide, the first and fourth variations in Variations for Four, leading roles in Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, Diversion of Angels, Études, Sinfonietta, Spring and Fall, and featured roles in Anastasia, Ballet Imperial, The Leaves Are Fading and Push Comes to Shove.

Mr. Belotserkovsky created leading roles in Baroque Game, The Brahms-Haydn Variations, The Elements and Without Words, and a featured role in Known by Heart.
