Altynaï Asylmuratova
Kirov Ballet
Born in Alma-Ata, Russia, Ms. Asylmuratova graduated from
the Vaganova School, St. Petersburg, in 1978, and immediately
joined the Kirov Ballet. In 1983, she was named Honoured Artist
and in 1984 she was awarded the grand prix and the gold medal
at the International Ballet Competition in Paris.
Asylmuratova is a Prima Ballerina of the Kirov Ballet. She
has appeared as guest artist with major ballet companies throughout
the world, including the American Ballet Theater, the Royal Ballet,
Bayerishes Staatsballett, the Paris Opera Ballet, English National
Ballet and La Scala.
In October, 1995, Asylmuratova joined the Ballet National
de Marseille Roland Petit as a permanent guest artist, where
she dances l'Arlesienne, Coppelia and Geopard, among others.
Her first engagement with the company was a triumphant debut
in Japan and Korea. Asylmuratova was featured in the movie "Backstage
at the Kirov". Her television work includes Natalia Makarova's
La Bayadere with the Royal Ballet and Le Corsaire with the Kirov
Ballet.
